The Art of Discovery to Influence People.

People want other people to be like them.  When making a presentation to anyone whether that be one on one or to a group learn everything you can about them before the presentation. When you are able to frame your language to their interests they feel personally involved and emotionally involved. If you are presenting to a large audience, try to learn from the organization something about the group who will attend.  What are their concerns, issues, worries?

Meet People At The Door

You can have a powerful effect on the group and learn a lot by meeting some of them at the door before you present.  These people will feel they are personally involved and be readier to help you during your presentation. Change your presentation to include direct references to their specific interests or concerns and use language they use in their profession or organization.  They will become emotionally involved when you frame the issues in their language.
